Dr. Gies is a Phi Beta Kappa Bachelor of Science Degree graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Following graduation from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Family Practice Residency training at Travis AFB, CA, he also completed the USAF Aerospace Medicine Primary Course in Flight Medicine at Brook AFB, TX. He has served our country since 1977, both in the Active Duty Air Force as well as in the Air National Guard. Dr. (Colonel) Gies presently serves as The Idaho State Surgeon General and is assigned to Idaho State Headquarters, Gowen Field, Boise, ID. In addition to being Guardian's Home Care and Hospice Medical Director in Twin Falls, ID, Dr. Gies holds several prestigious positions within the community to include: President and Medical Director of Associates in Family Practice, P.A. (clinics in Gooding, Wendell and Hagerman, Idaho), Chief of Medical Staff at North Canyon Medical Center, Gooding, ID, as well as Medical Director of Mountain View Center for Geriatric Psychiatry. He is also the present Medical Director of Lincoln County Care Center in Shoshone, ID, Bennett Hills Care Center in Gooding, ID, Desert View Care Center in Buhl, ID, and Oak Creek Care Center in Kimberly, ID. Previous positions include: Chief of Medical Staff and Medical Staff Development Coordinator for Gooding County Memorial Hospital in Gooding, ID, Clinical Director for Glenn's Ferry Health Center in Glenn's Ferry, ID, Commander of the 124th Medical Group, Idaho Air National Guard, Chief of Aeromedical Services for the 366th Medical Group in Mountain Home, ID, and Flight Surgeon for the 391st Tactical Fighter Squadron at Mountain Home AFB, ID. Charles Hofmann, MD, MACP has practiced general internal medicine in Baker City since establishing his practice in 1981. He served 14 years on the Baker City Council, including 3 terms as Mayor. He is a past-President of the Oregon Medical Association, a Master in the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates, and the recipient of numerous awards including OHSU Alumnus of the Year, Baker City Man of the Year, and was named as one of Oregon’s 50 Greatest Leaders by Oregon Business Magazine.
