Medical Records Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:   Medical Records Assistant
Department: Business Operations
Reports to: Medical Records Coordinator

Position Summary:

Individual is responsible to open the chart and maintain the filing and scanning until the record is discharged.
 
Essential Job Functions:
  1. Files all documentation in the appropriate charts and per company policy.
  2. Create patient charts for new patients.
  3. Maintain tracking system of patient records.
  4. Sort all visit notes and associated paperwork, OASIS, orders, etc., by discipline for scanning.
  5. Scan all visit notes into Scan Health for distribution.
  6. Check for error and make corrections for each discipline and distribute all notes.
  7. Run distribution sheet reports for scheduling department.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Requirements:

EDUCATION:   High school diploma or equivalency
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year experience within the health care system
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  1. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  2. Basic computer skills and knowledge of office equipment.
  3. Flexible and able to work independently.
  4. Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sustained exposure to an office environment. Prolonged sitting, typing, talking on the phone. May require some repetitive bending, stooping or twisting. May require some travel. Minimal lifting limited to < 35 lbs.
This position is Non-Exempt and Full Time
